Art Basel for Couples Who Don't Know Art: Your Miami Art Week Date Guide

You don't need to know art to have a great Art Week date. You don't need to know what a biennial is, or why a room full of people is staring very seriously at a single chair.

Miami Art Week — December 4–6, 2026 for Art Basel Miami Beach itself, with most satellite fairs running December 1–6 — is the best people-watching date of the year. The city dresses up, stays out late, and fills with art you can argue about, laugh about, and occasionally fall for. All you need is one rule: each of you picks the one piece you'd actually take home, and defends it.

Every date, price, and hour here was checked October 26–27, 2026 against each fair's own official pages. Where a fair hasn't published 2026 prices yet, we say so — no guessed numbers. And book now, in October: early-bird prices end and the good dinner reservations go first. Start with our events calendar, then build your week below.

The main event: Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel Miami Beach takes over the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive — 272 exhibitors from 40+ countries and territories for 2026, on a floor about 12% smaller than last year. Smaller is good news for a date: less marathon, more actually looking.

Public days: Friday, December 4, Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6, 2026, 11am–6pm. December 2–3 are preview days, by invitation only — the public days are your plan.

Tickets: Day $92 · First Access $105 (entry one hour before opening) · Weekend $170 (Sat Dec 5 + Sun Dec 6) · Reduced Day $68 (students, ages 13–18, seniors, veterans, Miami Beach residents; proof required).

Yes, $184 for two is the splurge of the week. It's also the one fair a first-timer shouldn't skip — do it once, and let the cheaper fairs below carry the rest of the week. When your eyes glaze over, step out to Collins Park: a new James Turrell outdoor work, free to the public, and Public Art Fund's *Between Tides* — artist-designed ping-pong tables you can play on. Loser buys coffee.

The best-value fairs (where we'd actually send couples)

INK Miami — the free one. INK Miami runs December 2–6, 2026 in the Suites of Dorchester, 1850 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach — galleries in hotel suites around a courtyard, a short walk from the Convention Center. The only fair dedicated to prints and works on paper; 20th anniversary, 15 exhibitors, and admission is free with online registration. Daily hours aren't published yet — check the official page before you go. Extras: Opening Brunch Wed Dec 2, 9am–noon; Pulp Party Thu Dec 3, 7–9pm. Prints are the most date-friendly art there is: pieces normal people can actually imagine buying.

Aqua Art Miami — the evening date fair. Aqua fills the Aqua Hotel, 1530 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, rooms around a courtyard. One day: $32 ($26 seniors 62+, students 12–18, groups 10+). Hours: Thu Dec 3, 12pm–9pm; Fri Dec 4 and Sat Dec 5, 11am–9pm; Sun Dec 6, 11am–6pm. VIP Preview Wed Dec 2, 3pm–10pm (VIP cardholders, press, or purchased VIP ticket). Note: large bags and strollers aren't permitted inside. A courtyard, art in every room, a 9pm close — that's an evening out, not a homework assignment.

NADA Miami — best dollars per discovery. NADA is where younger galleries show tomorrow's name-drops: December 1–5, 2026 (ends Saturday — no Sunday) at Ice Palace Studios, 1400 North Miami Avenue, Miami; 135+ galleries from 63 cities in 27 countries. Early-bird: $45 day / $65 multi-day; Vernissage Pass $150; senior (65+)/student $35, onsite only with ID; children 12 and under free. Buy online — onsite tickets are limited, and a portion of sales funds the NADA Acquisition Gift for PAMM. Daily hours aren't on NADA's official pages yet, so check before you go.

Red Dot Miami — two fairs, one ticket, in Wynwood. Red Dot Miami shares Mana Wynwood Convention Center, 2217 NW 5th Avenue, Miami, with Spectrum Miami (below) — one ticket admits you to both fairs. Hours: Thu Dec 3 – Sat Dec 5, 12pm–8pm; Sun Dec 6, 12pm–6pm; VIP/Press Preview Wed Dec 2, 5–6pm, Opening Night 6–9pm. Per the organizer's 2026 announcement: general admission $50 in advance (the advance offer, until Nov 15, also includes Opening Night plus an additional fair day); Opening Night $85 (includes all fair days, Dec 3–6).

Spectrum Miami — a full second fair, not a side room. Spectrum Miami stands on its own as one of the week's big Wynwood draws: it runs December 2–6, 2026 alongside Red Dot under the same Mana Wynwood roof — together they fill 150,000+ square feet, two complete fairs back to back. Spectrum follows the same schedule: Opening Night Wed Dec 2, 6–9pm (after the 5–6pm VIP/Press Preview), then public hours Thu Dec 3 – Sat Dec 5, 12pm–8pm and Sun Dec 6, 12pm–6pm. And the value point bears repeating: your $50 advance ticket (or $85 Opening Night ticket) covers Spectrum Miami in full — no second ticket, no add-on. Two fairs plus a Wynwood night around them: a complete date for $50 a person if you buy before Nov 15.

Art Miami + CONTEXT — one ticket, downtown. Art Miami (36th edition) and CONTEXT (14th, emerging and mid-career artists) share One Herald Plaza (NE 14th St & Biscayne Bay), Downtown Miami, December 1–6, 2026 — one ticket covers both. Hours: Wed Dec 2 – Sat Dec 5, 11am–7pm; Sun Dec 6, 11am–6pm; Tue Dec 1 general admission from 4pm (Art Miami to 8pm, CONTEXT to 9:30pm) after invitation/VIP previews. Prices: one day $71 · multi-day $184 (includes one day at Aqua, Dec 3–6) · VIP $330 · $48 seniors 62+, students 12–18, groups 10+. Online only. Your mainland-day anchor, and an easy pair with NADA.

The splurges and the TBA watchlist

These fairs haven't published 2026 prices yet — normal in October, and exactly why you check the official page instead of believing a roundup that printed a number anyway. For each: tickets/prices announced closer to the fair — check the official page.

Untitled Art, Miami Beach. Untitled, a beachfront tent on the sand at Ocean Drive and 12th Street: public days Wed Dec 2 – Sun Dec 6, 2026, 11am–7pm Wed–Sat, 11am–5pm Sun (VIP/Press Preview Tue Dec 1, 10am–7pm). 15th edition, 166 galleries from 36 countries. Prices: not yet published on the official site. Art on the actual sand, then Ocean Drive at golden hour — the setting does half the date work.

Design Miami. Design Miami, Dec 1–6, 2026, in Pride Park, Convention Center Drive & 19th Street — directly beside the Convention Center, the easiest same-day pair with Art Basel. 22nd edition, theme "Unveiling," Curatorial Director Charlene Prempeh; Dec 1 is an invitation-only member/collector preview. Public hours and standalone prices: not yet published on the official site. Love furniture and objects more than paintings? This is your fair — just don't accept a "confirmed" price for it yet.

Pinta Miami. Pinta, the week's only fair exclusively for Ibero-Latin American art, marks its 20th anniversary at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour, 3385 Pan American Drive, Coconut Grove. Public hours: Thu Dec 3, 3–8pm; Fri Dec 4 and Sat Dec 5, 12–8pm; Sun Dec 6, 12–6pm (invitation-only VIP previews Dec 2–3). Prices: not yet published on Pinta's official pages. Bonus: a fair is an excuse for a Coconut Grove evening.

InScope — the fair that replaced SCOPE. There is no standalone SCOPE in 2026. InScope, a first edition from the team behind SCOPE Art Show, takes over the old pavilion site on the sand at Ocean Drive and 8th Street. Gallery floor: Wed Dec 2 – Sun Dec 6, 2026, 11am–7pm daily (Tue Dec 1 is a VIP & Press preview for eligible ticket holders). Early-bird, until Nov 23, 2026: $60 one day · $120 full week (Dec 2–6) · $35 residents, students, seniors. Write InScope on your list — don't show up asking for SCOPE.

Free Art Week dates

A great date day here can cost nothing but dinner.

Collins Park — free. The Turrell outdoor work and *Between Tides* ping-pong tables, both official Art Basel programming, are free to the public, steps from the Convention Center. Play before or after your fair day; loser buys the next round.

No Vacancy — free, Nov 12 – Dec 19, 2026. Twelve local artists in twelve Miami Beach hotel public spaces, with the City of Miami Beach. It spans all of Art Week and is free to wander: pick three hotels, walk between them at night, rate what you find.

ICA Miami — free, year-round. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, 61 NE 41st Street, Design District: free admission, open Wed–Sun, 11am–6pm, closed Mon–Tue. Dec 2–6 are Wed–Sun, so it's open across the public days; special Art Week programming is announced by the museum separately.

Design District public art — free. Buckminster Fuller's Fly's Eye Dome in Palm Court (140 NE 39th St), Sou Fujimoto's Palm Court façade, the Xavier Veilhan Le Corbusier bust, and rotating installations. Golden hour here, free ICA next door — the strongest free hour of the week.

Wynwood Walls — $12, worth it. Wynwood Walls, 2516 NW 2nd Ave: $12 adults 18+, $5 youth 13–17, $10 seniors 65+, 12 and under free — including a complimentary spray-painting experience, so you actually make something together. Hours Mon–Sun, 10:30am–6:30pm. It's a year-round attraction — a cheap Art Week add-on, not an Art Week event — and the mural streets around it are free to walk.

One perfect Art Week date, hour by hour

Miami glowing at night during Art Week

Saturday, December 5, 2026 — one Beach day, built only from verified hours and prices, no causeway crossings.

Morning — Collins Park, free. Turrell, a ping-pong game, a slow start. Or swing by INK at 1850 Collins — free with registration; check its official page for that day's hours first, since they aren't published yet.

Early afternoon — Art Basel, inside its 11am–6pm day. In on your $92 day tickets (or the $170 weekend ticket if Sunday's in play), pick-your-piece game on. Inside by early afternoon means the big rooms done properly and out while the light is good — 6pm is a hard close.

The gap — Lincoln Road. A short walk from the Convention Center. Coffee, a stroll, an argument about the chair room. No agenda needed.

Early dinner — Macchialina, from 5pm. Macchialina, 810 Alton Road, serves Fri–Sun, 5–11pm, about a 10-minute walk or short trolley hop from the Convention Center. Book now — Art Week Saturday is no night for walk-in luck.

After dinner — Aqua, open until 9pm. Aqua, 1530 Collins, runs Sat Dec 5, 11am–9pm. Saved for last, the $32 fair is the relaxed one. The math for two: Art Basel $184 + Aqua $64 = $248 — or swap the afternoon for the free picks and the day's tickets cost $64. Both are good dates; pick by budget, not guilt.

Where to eat when everything is booked

Mandolin Aegean Bistro's garden courtyard in the Miami Design District

Four verified picks, each matched to an Art Week day. Book earlier than feels necessary.

After Art Basel — Macchialina (Miami Beach). Macchialina, 810 Alton Road. Chef Michael Pirolo's Italian taverna: Mon–Thu, 6–10pm; Fri–Sun, 5–11pm; reservations for 1–9 via Resy. Close to the Convention Center, good enough that dinner isn't a comedown.

The classic splurge — Joe's Stone Crab (Miami Beach). Joe's, 11 Washington Ave, South Pointe. Dinner nightly (Mon–Tue, 5–10pm; Fri–Sat to 11pm), lunch on select days, reservations on its own site. Honest geography: the south end of the Beach, not a walk from the Convention Center — plan the ride, and book early.

After ICA / Design District — Mandolin Aegean Bistro. Mandolin, 4312 NE 2nd Ave, Miami. A MICHELIN Bib Gourmand garden courtyard, open daily 12pm–11pm, reservations on its site. Greek-Turkish food in a garden after a free ICA afternoon — the romantic mainland pick.

After Wynwood — DOYA. DOYA, 347 NW 24th Street, Wynwood. Modern Aegean meze, wood-fire kitchen, garden patio, reservations on its site. The natural dinner after Red Dot Miami, Spectrum Miami, or Wynwood Walls — meze is built for two people ordering too much on purpose.

Getting there without ruining the date

Pick a side of the bay per day, park once — or don't drive at all. Causeway traffic is how Art Week dates die.

Brightline ends downtown. Brightline stops at MiamiCentral, 600 NW 1st Avenue, Downtown Miami, with Metrorail, Metrobus, MetroMover, and Miami Trolley connections. Clearly: there is no Brightline service to Miami Beach — the Beach leg is a separate transfer (bus/trolley, taxi, or rideshare across the MacArthur, Venetian, or Julia Tuttle Causeways). Brightline is the smart play for the mainland fairs: Art Miami + CONTEXT and NADA are both a short hop from MiamiCentral.

On the Beach, the trolley is free. The city's South Beach trolley runs 7 days, 8am–11pm, roughly every 20 minutes, serving the Convention Center, Lincoln Road, the Bass Museum, and the New World Center directly. Four routes in all: South Beach, Middle Beach, Collins Express, North Beach.

Driving to Art Basel? Budget it. Convention Center valet (West Lobby, off Convention Center Drive) runs $30–$35; there's an 800-space on-site garage plus nearby municipal/private garages — all strained Fri–Sat. South Beach street parking hits $4/hour in the Entertainment District, so a garage or the free trolley beats feeding a meter. At Mana Wynwood, parking is $33 + tax, 12 hours, no in/out.

And once more: book tickets now. InScope early-bird ends Nov 23, Red Dot + Spectrum's advance offer ends Nov 15, NADA early birds are limited, Art Basel availability is limited. October-you fixes this in twenty minutes. December-you cannot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to know anything about art to enjoy Art Basel? A: No. Art Week rewards curiosity, not credentials. Pick one piece each you'd take home, defend it, move on — you will not run out of things to talk about.

Q: When is Art Basel Miami Beach in 2026? A: Public days are Fri Dec 4, Sat Dec 5, and Sun Dec 6, 2026, 11am–6pm, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive. Dec 2–3 previews are invitation only; most satellite fairs run Dec 1–6.

Q: How much are Art Basel tickets? A: Day $92, First Access (one hour before opening) $105, Weekend (Sat + Sun) $170, Reduced Day $68 for students, ages 13–18, seniors, veterans, and Miami Beach residents with proof. Buy through the official ticket shop.

Q: What's actually free during Miami Art Week? A: INK Miami (with registration), ICA Miami (free year-round), Design District public art, Art Basel's Collins Park programming — the Turrell outdoor work and *Between Tides* ping-pong tables — and No Vacancy's hotel art, free Nov 12 – Dec 19, 2026.

Q: What's the cheapest full fair ticket? A: Aqua at $32 ($26 seniors 62+, students 12–18, groups 10+) — also the best evening option, open to 9pm Thu–Sat. Best two-for-one: Red Dot Miami and Spectrum Miami — one $50 advance ticket admits you to both full fairs at Mana Wynwood.

Q: Is SCOPE happening in 2026? A: Not standalone. InScope, from the team behind SCOPE Art Show, now holds its Ocean Drive and 8th Street site: Dec 2–6, 2026, 11am–7pm daily; early-bird $60 day / $120 week / $35 residents, students, seniors until Nov 23.

Q: Can we do Art Week in one day? A: Yes — pick one side of the bay. Beach: Collins Park (free) in the morning, Art Basel in the afternoon, dinner, Aqua to 9pm. Mainland: ICA and Design District art (free), then NADA, or Red Dot Miami and Spectrum Miami in Wynwood, and dinner nearby.

Q: How do we reach Miami Beach without driving? A: Brightline to MiamiCentral (downtown only — it does not go to the Beach), then transfer by bus, taxi, or rideshare across a causeway. On the Beach, the free trolley runs 8am–11pm, roughly every 20 minutes, and serves the Convention Center.

Q: When should we buy tickets and book dinner? A: Now. InScope early-bird ends Nov 23, 2026; the Red Dot + Spectrum advance offer ends Nov 15; NADA early birds are limited; and Macchialina, Joe's Stone Crab, Mandolin, and DOYA all take reservations that won't survive into December.

Plan your Art Week

Art Week comes once a year, and it's the rare big Miami moment that actually rewards going as a couple — the art gives you something to play with, not just look at. Lock the early-bird tickets above, book dinner before anything else, and watch our events calendar as more Art Week listings land. December doesn't have to carry the whole season, either: the same events page covers Miami Book Fair season in November and the holiday lights season building right behind Art Week, across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.
